..........
Thirty-seven years ago, our inaugural season captivated both audiences and critics alike.
“Avedis means ‘good news’ in Armenian. And Monday’s debut…for Avedis,
San Francisco’s newest chamber music series, was certainly that.”
– SF Chronicle..........
Since then Avedis has continued to bring inspiration to our programming
and joy to our performing with each new season.“…this year’s trio of concerts is a smashing example of
quality, variety and freshness…”
– Newhouse News Service“…musicianship at its zenith”
– SF Classical Voice“For more than 30 years, Avedis — the fine series led by flutist
Alexandra Hawley — has been regaling San Francisco audiences with
a variety of chamber music, performed by a shifting constellation
of the areas leading instrumentalists. From Bach to the modern era,
this is a reliable source of amiable musicmaking.”
– San Francisco Chronicle……………………………………………………………………………………………..
Avedis, which means “good news” in Armenian, takes its name from San Francisco pianist, Robert Avedis Hagopian (1945-1984) and is dedicated to his memory, honoring the spirit of joy, excellence, and adventure he brought to his music and to the musical world.
